2-Minute Sketches
Using the same image, I allowed myself two minutes to complete a sketch in four different medias. This task is very helpful for getting used to just starting a sketch! It shows the importance of observing the basic shapes and angles and being able to get these down in paper, to represent a space.
I started with a simple pencil sketch, using an 8B pencil. I need to be more confident with my line making as in all of these sketches, I use feathery lines.
My next sketch was a single line sketch, where my fine liner didn’t leave the paper. I really enjoy these sketches and love the way they look - they also help with my tendency towards feathered lines.
The next two sketches I experimented with different colour mediums. First, I used brush pens. I feel these could look good once I get more confident with my line making and also if I had a wider range of colours.
Finally, I used colouring pencils. I really enjoyed using different pressures and angles to greater different textures and depths. This has made me want to do more pencil colour rendering!
